USDA Bid Opening Under Budget for the 2nd Time

Bid Opening

Wednesday's bid opening for the USDA Water Distribution System Improvements contract saw competitive bids from ten different contractors. The base bid and alternates for the bid opening was under budget by approximately $265,000.*

This was the second of four bid openings for the USDA Funded Water System Improvement Project. The first opening this past Tuesday for the Transmission Main Replacement was approximately $691,000 under budget.*

After the two bid openings, the project as a whole is approximately $956,000 under budget.* The next bids for the Hwy 164 Booster Pump Station will be opened on 10/8 at 2:00 pm, and the bids for Mart's new Water Treatment Plant will be on 10/9 at 2:00 pm.

After the bid opening, MRB Group Project Manager Henry Witt III stated, "This is a great start to be under budget by this much heading into the next two contract bids because they require such a specialized contractor. Let's hope these competitive bids continue."

*The totals represented in this article are not final nor official. Contractors have not been awarded yet. After bid openings for all four contracts are completed, bids will be tabulated and made available.
